Debate season is in full swing, with match-ups almost every night across the country. And the way these things get hyped, you’d think the candidates were about to step into a literal boxing ring and start swinging, gloves off, no mercy.

Sen. Jim DeMint: bigotry and sexism belong in the classroom

We all like a taste of the retro now and then: the fashions of “Mad Men,” re-releases of The Beatles albums, remakes of ‘70s sitcoms into movies. Then there are the times when you’re hit with something so retrograde, regressive, and offensive as to completely floor you. Case in point: Sen. DeMint’s comments at a rally in South Carolina, in which he declared that anyone openly gay or sexually active, unmarried women shouldn’t be in our classrooms.

New poll shows Richard Burr numbers still lagging

New poll shows Richard Burr numbers still lagging

An Elon University Poll was just released that must have given the Burr camp pause: when asked if Richard Burr deserved re-election, only 29 percent of respondents said he did. Ouch. If that weren’t enough, only 37 percent approve of the job Burr is doing. We second that emotion – it’s high time to elect Elaine Marshall to the U.S. Senate.

A fact check for the GOP, that is. It's apparent that the Republicans have let yet another thing fall through the cracks - reality.

Conversation is constant here. We got to speak with attendees while at our EMILY's List booth at the exhibition all, meeting long-time supporters and sharing our mission with folks new to what we do -- and handed out some pretty cute notepads. At panel discussions and roundtable talks, we heard hopes, frustrations, and desire for more progressive action.
