Gillibrand for many months -- she has fought hard to bring this issue to the forefront and continued to hold Republicans attempting to block the legislation accountable.

A new report released by the Joint Economic Committee confirms what millions of women already know the hard way: women face obstacles in our economy on many fronts, including a pay gap that hasn’t improved in 10 years, expensive child care, and inflexible working arrangements. The committee is chaired by EMILY’s List alum Cong. Carolyn Maloney (NY), who said, “Women have made extraordinary progress in the last several decades – in pay, education and overall economic health. But we still have a ways to go to eliminate the pay gap and to achieve true economic equality. To really rev up the U.S. engine of economic growth, we need to finally and fully unlock the economic potential of women."
