Giving Scott Brown one more reason to cry in his tea: EMILY’s List recommends Elizabeth Warren for the U.S. Senate!
This week Bay State Republicans got the same great news we did: consumer advocate and all-around wicked smartie Elizabeth Warren is officially making a run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Tea Party Republican Scott Brown. In fact, a number of those Republicans received red alerts in the form of a fundraising nastygram, in which Scott bemoans the threat of a Warren candidacy and pleads for cash.
To be fair, the Senator’s fears are justified—as we who watched her take on the big banks and fight for working families in the wake of the 2008 financial collapse well know, Elizabeth is the woman who can take Brown down. And I’m thrilled to tell you she’ll have EMILY’s List’s full endorsement—and all the fight we’ve got in us.
Help Elizabeth Warren TODAY!
Scott Brown surfed the Tea Party wave to an upset victory in last year’s special election to succeed the late Sen. Ted Kennedy and, while styling himself as a moderate, has voted with the right-wing GOP Leadership 90 percent of the time. He’s taken millions from corporate polluters while voting to gut the Clean Air act. Backed in his previous race by Massachusetts Citizens for Life, he opposes lifesaving stem-cell research and once sponsored a "religious exemption” allowing anti-choice medical professionals to refuse emergency contraception for rape survivors.
Elizabeth, who grew up on what she calls “the jagged edge of the middle class,” has, as creator of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), given a voice to the millions of working families living day-to-day at the mercy of credit-card companies and predatory mortgage brokers. If elected, she would help to hold our slim Democratic majority – and bring a proven ability to negotiate to an increasingly fractious Senate. But we’re not the only ones betting she’d continue to hold Wall Street’s feet to the fire, given the millions big banks are pouring into Brown’s campaign coffers.
Let’s make sure all of Scott Brown and his Tea Party supporters’ nightmares come true. Join us in supporting the wise, determined, and courageous Elizabeth Warren for Senate!
