What an honor! Rossi and Blunt named to "Crooked Candidates" list
By Hilary Nachem on 07/20/2010 @ 06:55 PM
Our hearty congratulations to Roy Blunt and Dino Rossi on their latest accomplishment: making the nonpartisan Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington’s list of most unethical and corrupt candidates! It really takes a whole lot of scandal, dishonesty, and shadiness to make the list of just under a dozen out of 2,300 candidates – we hope Blunt and Rossi are truly proud of making it to the top.
Blunt, the presumptive nominee to face Robin Carnahan this fall for the open Missouri Senate seat, has racked up quite the assortment of sleazy cronies, including – but not limited to! – notorious lobbyist Jack Abramoff and now disgraced former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. His friends and family have profited from various sweetheart deals, and there’s pork as far as the eye can see.
Rossi, who is running in a primary to face Patty Murray for Senate, is chummy with Washington state lobbyists and questionable special interests. Even after several shady business deals went sour, Rossi’s zest for financial sleight-of-hand didn’t die. He went right ahead and invested in a bank – which is now under investigation for “unsafe and unsound banking practices.” Good times with dirty money!
Well done, Roy Blunt and Dino Rossi: you really deserve recognition for your crooked ways.
