Politico: Palin "steps into big leagues"
By Hilary Nachem on 07/12/2010 @ 05:38 PM
We are seeing the ripple effect of Sarah Palin's influence in races where EMILY's List women and Democratic candidates are fighting hard to win seats in November. Over the weekend, Palin's operatives filed a financial report indicating that in the past three months, she has raised more money than in any other quarter since forming SarahPAC in January 2009 and has already given $87,500 to her endorsed candidates.
Palin is amassing a considerable war chest to support the far-right candidates like Sharron Angle that she has endorsed in this cycle. And, she's not holding back in many of the same races you and I have invested in.
She's funding many of the right-wing GOPers that are up against EMILY's List women. Palin's group gave to Carly Fiorina, the failed HP executive who is challenging our Sen. Barbara Boxer. She's doled out money to Clint Didier, the tea party candidate aiming to unseat one of the top women advocates in the Senate - Patty Murray. And the SarahPAC cut a check for the embattled Sen. Chuck Grassley who is challenged by the grassroots leader, EMILY's List candidate Roxanne Conlin.
It doesn't stop there -- she raised $1,000,000 more to help elect her foot soldiers around the country, and this money has potential to be matched in the coming months as she drives fundraising efforts up in anticipation of election day.
We need to be ready and we need to be engaged. We need to arm our pro-choice Democratic women with the resources necessary to continue their fight. Women like Boxer and Murray, who have so valiantly fought for our rights and our freedoms in the Senate, need your support to help them return next year along side growing ranks such as Conlin.
Just last week, we saw Sarah release an ad highlighting her work in helping to "awaken" the mothers of America. With a headline from Politico touting SarahPAC steps into the big leagues, we know the storm is approaching.
And her report shows that she is using this new wealth to grow her base -- building her lists and seeking strategists to help perfect her platform. Her political operation is growing in strength and in influence, and she’s looking to turn back so much of the progress we’ve made.
