A Peek Inside the Black Book on MHP’s Desk: Encouragement from EMILY’s List!

Host of MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry, Melissa Harris-Perry celebrated her show’s one year anniversary by reading aloud from a black notebook various messages that guests had written to her daughter, Parker—and gave EMILY’s List a shout-out in the process! One of Parker’s favorite notes was a message from our own Stephanie Schriock, who had these friendly words of encouragement: “Parker, I hear you are already running for office. You let us know at EMILY’s List and we’re gonna have your back. All the best, Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY’s List.”

 
All fun aside, we think it’s wonderful that Melissa is keeping this book for her daughter. Encouraging our nation’s young women is the key to electing more American women leaders. We are able to do what we do because of girls like Parker and moms like Melissa who encourage their daughters to reach for what they want. By supporting women and girls who want to make an impact, we can change the face of American politics.
