A New Low for Scott Brown
Yesterday, Scott Brown joined the ranks of conspiracy theorists the world over in his newest attack against Elizabeth Warren Elizabeth Warren’s daughter. Even for this original Tea Party senator, this is a new low.
His claim? That Elizabeth Warren’s daughter, Amelia Warren Tyagi, has in some way used her role as a board member at Demos to promote her mother’s election efforts.
In a statement, Brown said: “I want every legal vote to count, but it’s outrageous to use taxpayer dollars to register welfare recipients as part of an effort to boost one political party over another … This effort to sign up welfare recipients is being aided by Elizabeth Warren’s daughter, and it’s clearly designed to benefit her mother’s political campaign.”
Demos is a non-partisan organization working to promote civic participation and economic opportunity for all Americans. Whether in Michigan or Massachusetts, the organization works to empower more citizens to participate in the election process. Scott Brown’s attempt to smear Elizabeth and her family is a desperate attempt to distract voters from his poor policies and pitiful platform.
This is just one more way the GOP is trying to suppress voters nationwide and the hardworking voters in Massachusetts aren’t buying it. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List makes it clear: “Massachusetts voters need a leader who will stand up for them at every opportunity, not someone who's so afraid for his own political life he's willing to object to increasing voter participation … The choice couldn't be clearer. Elizabeth Warren is more than enough opponent for Scott Brown - he should leave her children alone.”
The fight for Massachusetts’ Senate seat can’t get much uglier than this– but then again, Scott Brown has never failed to surprise us. Elizabeth and Scott are tied in the polls and with just 89 days to the election, we need to step up and show our support.
Women are sick of the GOP’s War on Women and their senseless attacks against their bodies and their families. It’s time to hold extremist Republicans like Scott Brown accountable and finally stop this War on Women. Sign our petition and tell Elizabeth—and her daughter, Amelia—you’ve got their backs.
