Last night was an exciting night in Arizona. EMILY’s List candidate, Kyrsten Sinema, won her hard-fought primary in Arizona’s new 9th district. With Sinema’s victory and long-time EMILY's List champion Ann Kirkpatrick’s win in AZ-01, EMILY’s List has now won 12 of 17 competitive primaries among fully endorsed EMILY’s List candidates this cycle.

At 36, Kyrsten Sinema is already a seasoned public servant who has stood up to extremist attacks on women’s health and families. With the help of EMILY’s List WOMEN VOTE!, Arizona voters were able to learn about her commitment to fighting for progressive values.

In a year where legislation in Arizona has been dominated by radical right-wing Republicans, like Governor Jan Brewer, who keep pushing anti-family, anti-woman and anti-immigrant policies, Kyrsten has fought back. The New York Times called her “one of the few bright lights” in “an elective body of astounding dimness.” Through her role as State Senator and now as Congressional candidate, she continues to hold Republicans accountable.

EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock commented on Sinema’s win, “[Her] personal and professional experience has given [her] a real understanding of the struggles that women and families in Arizona face, and EMILY’s List is excited to continue supporting [her] campaign as [she]  move[s] on to the general election in November.”

Kyrsten knows how much the EMILY’s List community meant to her campaign and is beyond grateful. Through direct contributions to her campaignn you made her victory last night possible. Watch her Thank You video below and send her your congratulations in the comments!
