Gillibrand takes a stand against Stupak/Pitts Amendment
By Emily on 11/17/2009 @ 07:51 PM
Since joining the Senate in January, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) hasn't hesitated to take on tough issues. And now, with the Stupak/Pitts Amendment in the House health care bill threatening to deny millions of women access to safe, affordable reproductive care, Kirsten is taking action once again.
Yesterday, Kirsten spoke out against the Stupak/Pitts Amendment at a press conference with a number of New York's most influential women leaders. Today, Kirsten blogged on the Huffington Post about the dangerous potential outcomes for women and girls. Calling the amendment "surely the greatest attempt to roll back women's reproductive rights since Roe V Wade was decided in 1973," Kirsten explained that the proposed new restriction would be incredibly harmful for women seeking care. She's rallying others to take action against the Stupak/Pitts Amendment, including signing our petition at http://stopstupak.com.
