Gillibrand and Ray lobby for healthier school lunches

Kirsten Gillibrand has recruited an unexpected partner in her fight for healthier school lunches.
This past week Sen. Gillibrand and television personality and chef Rachel Ray lobbied to improve the Child Nutrition Act. Gillibrand and Ray asked congress to consider increasing the amount of federal funding for school lunches in public schools.
The current act only increases funding by 6 cents, an amount that both Gillibrand and Ray believe is simply not enough.
Gillibrand, a mother of two, understands the need for healthier options in school cafeterias. She said in an interview, “Like all women who have children I have been very attentive to good nutrition and good eating habits.”
Way to go Sen. Gillibrand!
