EMILY's List at Netroots Nation: more coverage
By Hilary Nachem on 07/27/2010 @ 11:30 AM
After our great experience at the Netroots Nation 2010 conference in Las Vegas, we wanted to share some of the reactions and thoughts of folks we met there.
Reactions from Twitter
MP Tomei Loved #nn10 & the utter joy of leaving Las Vegas just doubled as I shared a cab w/ @schriock1 of @emilyslist! Genuine smart & lovely. <3".
Zack Ford The President of @emilyslist reminds us how patriarchy reigns supreme with male dominance on all levels of leadership. #nn10

Think Progress on Tarryl Clark
Yesterday at Netroots Nation, ThinkProgress spoke to Minnesota state Sen. Tarryl Clark (D), who is challenging Rep. Michele Bachmann (R) for Congress, and asked her about the disconnect between what Tea Party profiteers say and what the needs are of people who attend these rallies. Clark pointed to the fact that Bachmann has said she would like to “wean everybody off” of Social Security — even though that would be taking away money Americans have been paying for years.
Care2 on Tarryl Clark
Tarryl Clark - The Right Woman at the Right Time?
Some people would be daunted at the idea of running against a two-term incumbent Republican, especially on a non-presidential election year. But State Senator Tarryl Clark isn’t just some people. A lawyer, organizer and local politician, Clark has been raising money, gathering support, and is ready to take on the most conservative female congresswoman since Colorado Representative Marilyn Musgrave left office. And, perhaps the most inflammatory female congresswoman, ever. I had a chance this weekend to listen to Clark as she met with a group of women writers and activists at a roundtable set up by EMILY’s List at this year’s Netroots Nation convention in Las Vegas. As a Minnesotan, Clark’s campaign against Rep. Bachmann is already something I avidly follow, but I’d never had the chance to see the democratic candidate in her element.
Think Progress on Elaine Marshall
Elaine Marshall: Following His ‘Mentor’ Jesse Helms, Burr Continuing Secret Holds On Minority Judges
Speaking with ThinkProgress at the Netroots Nation convention yesterday, U.S. Senate candidate Elaine Marshall (D-NC) harshly rebuked Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) for his use of secret holds on Judges James Wynn and Albert Diaz, who have both been nominated for the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. Wynn, Marshall explained, was denied even a committee hearing when nominated for the same position in 1999 by Bill Clinton, due to Republican obstruction and a secret hold from then-Sen. Jesse Helms (R-NC).
Mean Rachel on Linda Chavez-Thompson
Linda Chavez-Thompson Keynote at Netroots Nation
Last night in Las Vegas, Linda Chavez-Thompson not only lit up the auditorium in front of a Goal Thermometercrowd of 2000 eager progressives, she also lit up the currents in which online activism thrives, becoming a trending topic on Twitter and earning the attention--and money--of anyone paying attention online. Also paying attention was Politico, who quoted her this morning in their Netroots Nation wrap-up as saying, “The old way of doing politics is done. This is the new thing. If you don’t embrace it, you lose out on a whole new way to get your message out.”
