Joliet Herald: Cong. Debbie Halvorson "deserves to be re-elected"
Election day is less than a week away, but the endorsements of EMILY’s List candidates keep pouring in. The Joliet Herald recently endorsed Cong. Debbie Halvorson, who represents the 11th district of Illinois, in her bid for reelection. The Herald, which covers the district’s largest town, praised Halvorson’s “hard work, experience and the ability to get things done in Washington.”
Since her election to Congress in 2008, Halvorson has put the needs of her constituents first. Halvorson worked in the House to pass the Affordable Care Act, ensuring that everyone in her district would get the coverage they needed. Meanwhile, her GOP opponent Adam Kinzinger promises to repeal the legislation, and as the Herald notes, such a repeal would mean that “a real chance exists of the preexisting ban and catastrophic coverage limits returning” – certainly not something in the interests of the 11th district.
The Herald’s editorial concludes: “based on Halvorson's legislative experience and what she has accomplished in just two years, we think she deserves to be re-elected.” We wholeheartedly agree.
