The verdict is in: EMILY's List Massachusetts Senate candidate Martha Coakley came out strong during last night's first televised debate among the candidates.

Coakley, currently serving as the state's first woman attorney general, faced off against three other Democratic candidates seeking the party nomination to fill the seat of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy.

We could easily tell you ourselves exactly how eloquent, poised, and intelligent Coakley sounded during the debate, but we might as well let you hear from someone else, too. Here are some of the great reviews from last night's debate:

The Boston Globe
“Attorney General Martha Coakley was crisp and efficient, showing a command of the issues and making a point to address the camera.”

Globe Editorial
“Coakley’s best moment came when she eloquently described the contrast between the theoretical majesty of the law and the way it operates in the daily lives of regular citizens.”

National Journal
"Coakley turned in a solid performance. She handled a question on troop increases in Afghanistan particularly well, arguing that 'we have not made the case yet to send more troops' to the region while also putting a human face on the war, in contrast to the other contenders, who portrayed the war in pure policy terms."

The Boston Globe: News Analysis
"Martha Coakley, the first-term attorney general from Medford, was cool and even-tempered. She often used her answers on federal issues to highlight initiatives in her state office, such as a business and technology development division, protecting civil rights, and a fraud task force to investigate the use of federal funds. She took few risks during the debate, and her answers reflected a lawyerly equanimity.”
