Paul Ryan’s work of oral fiction…er…Convention speech certainly had all the fact checkers riled up last night. Ryan’s loose relationship with the truth stretched out to health care, Medicare, the deficit, the US’s credit rating, and the closing of a GM plant in Wisconsin.

Last night was an exciting night in Arizona. EMILY’s List candidate, Kyrsten Sinema, won her hard-fought primary in Arizona’s new 9th district. Social Security is one of America’s greatest promises; you pay into a system for your entire working life on the premise that one day it will pay you back. Women across the country have earned these benefits and depend on them throughout retirement.

With the selection of GOP extremist and social-engineer Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney’s running mate—the stakes for women just got that much higher. Paul Ryan’s record is considered more conservative than Dick Cheney’s, and his suggested policies could be just as (if not more) detrimental to women and families.
