Alex Sink: 'Smarter is better' for good government

As Florida gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink puts it, "smarter is better" when it comes to good government.
Alex just released her accountability plan for the state, aimed at making Florida’s government more efficient for the state's residents. Saving taxpayer dollars and spending resources wisely is key to smart government, Alex says, and she has specific criteria for making sure Florida does just that.
Here's what Alex had to say about her proposal:
"Too often in government, what we've seen is 'Bigger is better. Bring in more revenues and spend more' and there are others who argue that smaller is better. What I'm going to be talking about is, smarter is better."
With years of business experience, Alex knows how to identify and eliminate wasteful spending – and she's already been doing that for Floridians in her current role as the state's chief financial officer.
The outlined plan includes "smarter policies" such as simplifying government regulations, setting up an independent accountability office, and assessing state spending and cutting. If elected governor, Sink believes that her plan could save Florida $700 million per year.
