A Horse of a Different Color in WA-Sen

Every cycle has a race that really comes down to work horse vs. a show horse -- and 2010 is no exception. In the show-horse role this year, perennial -- or should we say perpetual? -- candidate Dino Rossi. You all remember Dino from his two unsuccessful bids for the Governor's office – and especially the nasty and misleading attacks he launched against our own Governor Christine Gregoire.

And in the work-horse role (don't believe us -- believe the state's largest paper, who said it first), Senator Patty Murray -- the original mom-in-tennis-shoes who inspired a generation of women and has fought for veterans, health care, and so much more since we helped elect her to the Senate in 1992, the "Year of the Woman."

How did Dino spend his week? Raising money from the Republican faithful -- and proudly comparing himself to right-wingers like Florida's Marco Rubio and Tea-Partiers like Rand Paul.

How did Senator Murray spend her week? Fighting for Medicaid. Preparing to chair hearings investigating the explosion the Gulf that cost eleven American lives and an environmental disaster of epic proportions. Supporting shovel-ready smart growth projects that would bring jobs to Washington State. Oh, and securing the resources to get homeless veterans in Washington state off the streets and into homes.

Dino Rossi thinks he should be elected because he's got more Facebook friends than Senator Murray. Thanks, Dino, but we think folks will stick with Patty. So let's show Patty Murray that we know what's important -- her hard work.

Send us your message for Senator Murray and we'll make sure she gets it.
