Fight for Equal Pay for Equal Work!

Did you know that the median weekly salary for women is 162 dollars less than men’s per week? EMILY’s List and the women we support know that women and their families can no longer afford to be paid like second tier employees.

Congress is voting on the Paycheck Fairness Act this week — a bill that would mandate equal pay for women — and Republicans are threatening to stop it dead in its tracks.  

It’s sheer hypocrisy – Republicans, like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell, refuse to give women the fair wages they deserve, and then claim that the War on Women is a “manufactured issue”.  This is just one more example of the GOP trying to turn back the clock on women’s rights – and if they get away with it, millions of American women and their families will pay the price.
